Pure Joy
A few days ago, after a late summer rain, I saw something that for me epitomizes pure joy. The morning rain had given way to a bright, sunny day. Coming home from school I passed a patch of broken concrete near the entrance to our underground parking garage.
The broken concrete had a dip in it that had collected about an inch of clean water from the rain. In the pool, splashing, chirping, and exhibiting pure joy, were about twenty common house sparrows. They were totally in the moment, enjoying their bath.
I didn't have my camera with me, and am disappointed that I could not permanently capture that moment of joy. Seeing it was rare and precious, and not likely to be a repeat event. I like how God tips His hand every now and then to show us the wonders of this world. So there's no photo, but I found this one which gives a little of the flavor of the moment.
Do you have moments of joy like that in your life? Don't you wish you did?
